Waxing lyrical online
WEBSITES are now full of bards waxing eloquent about Singapore's great divide. The thrust of these websites are that the ruling party should be voted out because of its pro-wealth and anti-poor policies.
Really? What should we believe... that Singapore should be ruled by a pro-poor and anti-rich political leadership?

Even China and Russia have given up on that old chestnut as they realise that in the real world, it results in everyone being poorer, especially the poor.
The poor will be with us always and the aim should be to try to lift everyone's standard of living even if it will likely mean that the rich will get richer. More importantly, the poor will be less poor as a result.

My reply:

Really?: Sometimes when you are too pro rich, the poor suffer heavily too.
