She thinks S'poreans are still apathetic
HAVING spoken to many Singaporeans from different walks of life, I realise that, despite the heat of Nomination Day, many Singaporeans are either still apathetic about politics and its significance, or are not willing to seriously think through what the political parties have to offer, because they are happy to continue voting for the same political party and do not feel the need to be engaged.
Spicing up the general election for the younger electorate are young candidates like Ms Tin Pei Ling and Ms Nicole Seah, showing that the youth of Singapore are willing and able to come forward to represent themselves and the people, and to play a part in shaping the future of Singapore.
They represent the hopes and dreams of many of us, not just those in their age group.
Let us vote with our hearts. Let us not give default votes nor vote without thinking through the seriousness and meaning of our vote.
In the true spirit of democracy, let us consider what we want for our country, and vote in the candidates whom we believe can contribute to the continued success of our country, and who can and will work tirelessly to come up with, and implement, policies for the benefit of Singapore and all Singaporeans.
