President's office should oversee the People's Association

President's office should oversee the People's Association
Letter from Isaac Koh Zhao Jin 04:45 AM Sep 02, 2011
The People's Association (PA), which some members of the public view to be partisan, is a statutory board under the Ministry for Community Development, Youth and Sports.
However, with the Elected President meant to be above the politics of the country, it would make sense for the PA, whose mission is "to build and to bridge communities in achieving one people, one Singapore", to come under the President's Office.
This way, the President would not only be a representative of all Singaporeans, he would be better equipped to unify the electorate, and together with the PA - whose motto is "Bringing people together" - move towards achieving one people, one Singapore.
