All I want on Budget day is...
AS BUDGET Day approaches this Friday, the following is my wish list for the Government. Even if these wishes are not on the agenda, they could be discussed during the debate once the Budget has been presented.
- Abolish TV and radio licences.
- Allow the use of the Central Provident Fund (CPF) for postgraduate courses at the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and Singapore Management University.
- Lower the eligibility age to join CPF Life to 35 years and above.
- Allow the use of Medisave for upfront payment of hospital admissions instead of requiring cash.
- Allow the use of Medisave for all outpatient medical and dental treatments.
- Allocate some funds towards a Marriage Grant to encourage Singaporeans to get married and have families, applicable to first-time marriages for both parties.
- Extend eco-credits to Singaporeans who go green, conserve energy and initiate recycling. These credits can be used to offset utility bills.
- Lower income tax for those who are physically challenged.
- Give full-time national servicemen and NSmen higher tax relief for their services in the nation's defence.
- Set up a school to nurture creativity in the fields of information and technology and media to train potential animators, graphic designers, virtual movie makers, Web designers and so on.
