PA denies allegation of 'double standards' by NSP's Nicole Seah

SINGAPORE - The People's Association has said the Mountbatten Community Club's toilets are open to members of the public but party-political activities - regardless of where they come from - are not allowed in community clubs.
It was responding to media queries about a statement by Ms Nicole Seah that the Mountbatten Community Club did not allow members of the public attending the National Solidarity Party rally on Monday to use its toilets.
In her opening address at Mountbatten Field, the 24-year-old NSP candidate who is contesting in Marine Parade Group Representation Constituency (GRC), said: "I found out that Mountbatten CC did not let you use the toilet because you are attending a NSP rally.
"I wonder what it would have been if it were a PAP rally. Talk about double standards."
The association said that party-political activities are not allowed at the community clubs (CCs) and its staff members will ask members of the public displaying party symbols to remove them before entering the CCs. It added that this applies to all political parties.
Referring to the incident, the association said that some NSP supporters had asked to use the toilets. Its staff asked them to put aside their party flags and badges before entering the CC. They obliged by folding their flags and removing their badges.
No one was turned away from using the CC's toilets, the association said.
