New system will give free access to subsidiary legislation

New system will give free access to subsidiary legislation
Letter from Li Jin Haw, Assistant Director, Corporate Communications Unit, Attorney-General’s Chambers, Singapore
04:46 AM Apr 27, 2011

We refer to the letter of April 25 by Mr Tan Eng Keong. Mr Tan has called for subsidiary legislation to be available for free access, in the same way that statutes are made available through a website managed by the Attorney-General's Chambers.
At the opening of the legal year on Jan 7, the Attorney-General (AG), Mr Sundaresh Menon SC, announced that a new legislation database system will be launched this year. This will replace the Versioned Legislation Database that has been in use since 1998. This new system will, like its predecessor, provide the latest versions of statutes to the public, free of charge.
In addition, AG announced that the system will be extended to also allow free access to the latest versions of all subsidiary legislation at a later date.
We would like to thank Mr Tan for his feedback.
