Too small for unhappy slapping
SINGAPORE is where it is today not because of a miracle. It took decades of dedicated planning and work.
Many nations with poor leadership have fared badly in the last 10 years. A lack of confidence in the government, and stock prices fall, currency value drops, foreign investors pull out and so on.

I believe the opposition is sincere about helping Singaporeans, but Singapore has progressed to a point where we cannot let a "fresh graduate" take the place of a "CEO".
This GE was a good exercise to remind the People's Action Party that, perhaps in its bid to make Singapore an economic success, capitalistic market forces have also made many Singaporeans feel edged out of their own country.
But the PAP is willing to reflect on its policies and listen. Mr George Yeo is out. You can't vote for the opposition and then petition online to keep him as Foreign Minister.
Get a wider perspective. Campaign rallies are designed to speak to the heart. Evaluate them carefully against what is going on in the world. When a company does not do well, all on the payroll go down. No job, no need to even talk about workers' welfare.
The PAP will not always be there to take care of big, international issues. Should the day come when PAP does not have the majority of the votes, we had better hope that someone else is able to fill their shoes.
We are too small to be slapping each other awake or fighting for control. We need to come to a common understanding that citizens, the opposition and the ruling can engage constructively to cover one another's shortfalls.
